Ask about:
2 times they felt like a hero
2 times they were scared as a pilot.
How did they come to be a pilot- when was it first a possibility, when they started “pilot school”
Were they ever worried they wouldn’t make it? Any close calls about failing or getting kicked out? Did they make any good decisions that kept them from having such close calls?
What are the advantages, in life, of being a pilot?
What are the disadvantages?
What’s good and bad about being part of a union?
Flying exposes people to more radiation- do they worry about this and why or why not?
